Upcoming Events this Summer

1. Next Meeting: Tuesday July 14th 7pm. We are planning on having Town Planner, Christine Grimando talk about the latest draft of a proposal to require new commercial construction on Rt. 1 be LEED certified.

2. Also at that meeting, we will be discussing a possible name change. It seems there is getting to be a lot of confusion in the public between our group and the newly formed Town Energy Efficiency Committee – which both vice-chair Wayne Boardman and I sit on. The proposal to be discussed will be to change our organization’s name to “York Goes Green”.

3. Do you know about York Green Homes? It’s easy to do – just go to our website and find out how:

4. Our August meeting will be held on 8/11 at 7pm. We will have a special guest – Dimitri Cherny, from a Newmarket-based company called Highest Wind. They are looking to beta-test a project in York or Ogunquit. Instead of using windmills to create electricity, his company produces an “energy glider” which functions somewhat like a kite tethered to the ground and takes advantage of higher-altitude winds.
