October meeting

Greetings Everyone!

1. Our next meeting is tonight at 7pm in the downstairs room of the York Public Library.  Bob Brisebois and Paul McGowan have been working hard on a plan to engage with the York business community. They will be leading a discussion on this topic and looking for volunteers who can help.

2. My presentation on PACE to the Planning Board last month went very well.  We successfully introduced the concept to the town – and we got some valuable feedback and follow-up questions from the Planning Board members.  This feedback will be helpful in crafting our next presentation to the Selectmen sometime this winter.

Special thanks to Senator Bowman, George Gendron, and Stephen Kosacz who all spoke in favor.

It is our hope to get a PACE measure on the ballot for May – which would give home-owners the opportunity to make energy improvements over the summer, so their homes would be ready for the following winter.

3.  Denis O’Connor has converted a Ford Ranger to an all-electric vehicle.  If it’s ready, he’ll be bringing it to the meeting so folks can take a look at it.

4.  Last year the KEYS region received $500,000 in money to help establish a revolving loan fund for home-energy retro-fits.  However given that the state PACE program has $30,000,000 set aside for this purpose, we may be able to use this money towards a different purpose – possibly towards subsidizing energy audits.

We are working on organizing a regional meeting of the KEYS area energy groups for our next meeting in November.  Stay tuned for more details.

That’s all for now – hope to see you at the meeting tonight!
