Sept. meeting and YMS plug-in ceremony
Our next meeting is this Tuesday (Sept. 10) at the York Public Library at 7pm.
Plugging In Ceremony
This Friday at 12:45pm, there will be a “plugging-in” ceremony celebrating the launch of the 40 panel solar array on the roof of the York Middle School gym. Senator Angus King will be joining us as well as representatives from MLTI, Efficiency Maine, and Revision Energy.
After an introduction from Principal Williams, I will be teaching a mini-lesson on Renewable Energy, and then dedicating the array to the memory of YEEC Co-founder, Cynthia Raymond.
I will be presenting a plaque in her honor that will hang outside the school building to one of her family members. Following that, Senator King will have the floor and oversee the “plugging in” itself. The YMS art department has made a giant oversized plug for the occasion. It should be a lot of fun!
If you’d like to go, please email me directly firstname.lastname@example.org so I know how many folks are coming. Parking will be next to impossible to find, so you’ll want to park on the street or walk from another lot.
Its my dream to replicate this project on every school in the state. Admittedly, its an ambitious dream, but hopefully after Friday – we’ll be one step closer to that goal.
At the last meeting, we agreed to do a table at Market Fest this year to share information on energy audits, energy saving tips, and brochures from various Energy programs and businesses. If you’d like to help us with this effort, and spend an hour or two working the table, please let me know.
That’s all for now – take care everyone!
